Over 260 School Safety Projects Recommended for Funding
Concord, NH – Governor Chris Sununu and the Department of Education announce that 262 school safety projects at 163 schools throughout the state have been recommended to receive funding by the Public School Infrastructure Commission. The projects total $9,668,202.68 in safety improvements.
Following recommendation by the Commission, the projects will now by reviewed by the Executive Council and the Joint Legislative Fiscal Committee. Review is anticipated in the first quarter of 2024.
"New Hampshire remains committed to providing as many resources as possible to communities across the state to improve security," said Governor Chris Sununu. "Our community-first, hands-on collaboration between the state and local school districts is the right approach to maximize our efforts."
"The implementation of crucial school security projects is paramount, and these recommended grant awards underscore the ongoing commitment to help ensure the security of New Hampshire's children," said Frank Edelblut, education commissioner.
This marks the third round of Security Action for Education (SAFE) grants. Schools that did not receive funding from the first two rounds of SAFE grants were prioritized in this round of applications.
In previous rounds, approximately $13.9 million has been awarded to 341 schools throughout New Hampshire.
