Governor Chris Sununu Statement Regarding Department of the Interior LWCF Order Rescission

Concord, NH – Today, the Department of the Interior announced the rescission of Secretary’s Order 3388, regarding a change to the federal Land and Water Conservation Fund program, following a letter from Governor Chris Sununu to Deputy Secretary Estenoz last week requesting the rescission.

“I am pleased that the Department of the Interior has revoked their order, which would have significantly hindered New Hampshire’s ability to meet the outdoor recreation needs of our citizens and visitors,” said Governor Chris Sununu. “Yet again, New Hampshire was able to break past overreach from Washington D.C. and help to tear down burdensome regulations for the benefit of our citizens.”

New Hampshire has utilized funds from the Land and Water Conservation program to ensure necessary infrastructure, such as parking lots and restroom facilities, remain available to the public at outdoor recreation areas such as state parks.
