Governor Chris Sununu Receives 2019 Humane Legislative Leader of the Year Award
Concord, NH – Today, the New Hampshire chapter of the Humane Society of the United States presented Governor Chris Sununu with the 2019 Humane Legislative Leader of the Year Award.
"Over the past year, Governor Sununu has signed into law nearly a dozen new policies to protect animals in New Hampshire," said Julia Seeley, New Hampshire State Director for the Humane Society of the United States. "On behalf of the Humane Society of the United States and our New Hampshire supporters, it is with great pride and great appreciation that we present Governor Sununu with our 2019 Humane Legislator of the Year Award."
"We are here today to celebrate the monumental successes and kept promises from Governor Sununu that ensure that New Hampshire is no longer a safe place for unscrupulous breeders who place profits over the care of the animals," said Lindsay Hamrick, Director of Policy for Companion Animals for the Humane Society of the United States. "We truly could not be here today without Governor Sununu's leadership."
"I'm incredibly grateful to receive the Humane Society's 2019 Humane Legislator of the Year Award," said Governor Chris Sununu. "Working to strengthen our laws to further protect animals has been and should always remain a bipartisan effort. In just a few years, my office has worked closely with advocates to bring about meaningful change and move the ball forward. There's always more work to do, more to learn, and more conversations to have - but we're moving the ball forward and we're getting the job done.
