Department of Safety Commissioner John Barthelmes to Retire

Concord, NH - Today, Governor Chris Sununu issued the following statement announcing the retirement of New Hampshire Department of Safety Commissioner John Barthelmes:

"From overseeing America's finest State Police force to the DMV, Fire Standards and Training, and Homeland Security and Emergency Management, Commissioner Barthelmes has done a tremendous job leading the New Hampshire Department of Safety," said Governor Chris Sununu. "His passion and dedication to keeping Granite Staters safe is unmatched, and I cannot thank him enough for his years of selfless service to the State of New Hampshire."

"I thank you for the opportunity to serve the citizens of our great state for nearly 12 years as the Commissioner of Safety. It has been a tremendous experience and truly one of the unparalleled honors of my life," Safety Commissioner John Barthelmes said. "I want to thank the Department of Safety employees for their continued support and commitment to customer service. These dedicated professionals are always prepared to make an immediate response, 24/7, 365 days a year. The services they provide are often dangerous, and involve emergencies or catastrophic events that require immediate action. I will miss these amazing men and woman, as they work tirelessly to meet the public safety needs of New Hampshire's citizens."
