New Hampshire's Thriving Economy Makes State a Destination for Success

October 24, 2019

New data released by New Hampshire Employment Security shows that more Granite Staters are working than ever before. The September 2019 jobs report shows that the number of employed residents increased by 850 from August 2019. The state's labor force also grew by 1,080 to a record-high of 772,760. The unemployment rate remained steady at 2.5 percent.

"The latest jobs report is good news for New Hampshire families, and further evidence that our economy is strong and the Granite State is heading in the right direction," said Governor Chris Sununu. "The budget I signed just weeks ago ensures that New Hampshire's business-friendly, income-tax free environment is maintained – allowing our economy ample room to grow and New Hampshire families the opportunity to continue to thrive."

Data released earlier in the year by the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows New Hampshire as the fastest growing state in the Northeast for private sector job growth. Additionally, the Granite State is the most popular place in the Northeast for millennials to locate themselves.

"Young Americans are attracted to our live free or die spirit, good paying jobs, incredible outdoor recreation opportunities, environmental stewardship, and offering the best work-life balance there is," said Governor Sununu.

As further evidence of New Hampshire's strong economy, data from the United States Census Bureau shows New Hampshire as having the lowest poverty rate in the nation.
