Governor Chris Sununu, Local Officials Celebrate Opening of Jenness Beach Bath House

July 13, 2019

Jenness Beach is one of five state park beaches along New Hampshire's coastline, and now, just in time for the summer season, the beach has a new Bath House for visitors use. On June 14th, Governor Sununu, along with his wife Valerie, attended a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Bath House, inviting New Hampshire residents and visitors alike to enjoy the brand new facility.

The $1.3 million project was funded by state and town funds, and includes a 26-by 40-foot facility with eight bathrooms, two unisex changing rooms, and a rinse-off shower. A result of compromises from property and business owners, with support from town officials, elected officials and Governor Sununu, the Bath House promises to bring prosperity to the town of Hampton through increased tourism to the area. Additional renovations to town sewage systems as well as the new fire station, along with the over $140 million improvements made by private property owners in the area also promises to boost tourism, creating much excitement for beachfront business owners and town residents alike.

The ribbon cutting ceremony marks an exciting chapter for Jenness Beach and promises much success for the outdoor recreation economy in the state.
