Governor Sununu’s veto of the bill to repeal the death penalty came in a special place – the community center bearing the name of Office Michael Briggs – the Manchester police officer who was killed in the line of duty. With police officers and the family of Michael Briggs surrounding him, Governor Sununu vetoed the bill. “It is imperative that current law stands so that we can protect our officers and get justice for those that have made the ultimate sacrifice for our state. Hopefully the legislature will think of the victims, their families, and our current law enforcement when the vote to override the Governor’s veto occurs,” [said Governor Chris Sununu].
