CONCORD - Gov. John Lynch and the Executive Council today recognized Robin Boyd of Hooksett as April’s New Hampshire Volunteer of the Month. Gov. Lynch and the Executive Council presented Boyd with a commendation at a ceremony in the State House.
Gov. Lynch partnered with VolunteerNH! to create the New Hampshire Volunteer of the Month awards. The honorees are selected on a rotating basis by Executive Council district by VolunteerNH!.
“There are many volunteers in New Hampshire that make a positive impact on the everyday lives of our citizens and our communities. Our strong sense of volunteerism helps to foster the high quality of life of which we are so proud. As Governor, I believe it is important to recognize these volunteer efforts as a way to encourage more people to get involved and continue to make New Hampshire a great place to work and live,” Gov. Lynch said.
Boyd was chosen Volunteer of the Month in recognition of her work with the Girl Scouts in her community over the last 40 years - from planning and organizing events for the Girl Scouts to training adult leaders. For her work and dedication, she as awarded the Girl Scout Thanks Badge in 2006. In addition to her work with the Girls Scouts, Boyd shown a deep commitment to her community by assisting with Hooksett Old Home Day, and working work for a food pantry and assisting a local disabled woman with transportation and care.
Nominations for the monthly awards are currently being accepted and will continue to be accepted throughout the year. Nominees will be considered for the New Hampshire Volunteer of the Month Award and for a category award at the annual Spirit of New Hampshire Awards. ROBIN BOYD
WHEREAS, Robin Boyd has been honored as the April 2009 New Hampshire Volunteer of the Month Award winner; and
WHEREAS, Robin Boyd has been active in the Girl Scouts for more than 40 years. She is instrumental in planning, organizing and implementing events for girl scouts in her community; and
WHEREAS, Robin Boyd provides support and training for adult leaders who act as stewards of the Girls Scouts and its mission. She is responsible for recruiting, training and mentoring each adult leader to ensure a high quality Girl Scout experience for every scout; and
WHEREAS, This year, she is supervising 56 adult volunteers who work with more than 170 girls. Her community sold more than 18,600 boxes of Girl Scout Cookies this year, a true testament of her hard work and positive influence; and
WHEREAS, Robin Boyd was awarded the prominent Girl Scout Thanks Badge in 2006 for outstanding performance; and
WHEREAS, Robin Boyd has consistently demonstrated commitment to her community by staffing a booth at Hooksett Old Home Day and she played a noteworthy role in the preservation of Robie’s Country Store as a National Historic Site. She continues to find time to work for a food pantry and assist a local disabled woman with transportation and care; and
WHEREAS, Robin Boyd has worked tirelessly for the betterment of the community and encouraging young girls to become confident, active and responsible citizens; and
WHEREAS, Robin Boyd is a true leader who goes above and beyond in all her efforts without hesitation and encourages new ideas and suggestions with enthusiasm;
NOW THEREFORE, I, JOHN H. LYNCH, GOVERNOR of the State of New Hampshire and the Executive Council, do hereby commend ROBIN BOYD for her unyielding commitment to the betterment of her community and our state.
