CONCORD – Governor Maggie Hassan issued the following statement after signing into law today SB 357, a measure naming a scenic overlook and the visitor center on the northbound side of I-93 in Hooksett in honor of Raymond S. Burton:
“Ray Burton was one of the most dedicated, sincere and beloved public servants that the State of New Hampshire has ever known. Throughout his distinguished career of nearly 40 years, Ray Burton served the people with an unmatched passion that left a lasting legacy across our entire state.
“Thanks to Ray Burton’s unyielding commitment to the people of New Hampshire, the families and communities of the North Country and our state are stronger. Though we continue to miss him, the Raymond S. Burton Scenic Overlook across from the Mount Washington Hotel and the Raymond S. Burton Visitor Center on the northbound side of I-93 in Hooksett are fitting tributes. By formally naming these locations in his honor, we will help ensure that Ray Burton will continue to watch over the state that he loved so dearly.”
