CONCORD - Governor Maggie Hassan issued the following statement after signing into law yesterday House Bill 599, a measure establishing a single liquor commissioner:
"As we continue to build the foundation for an innovative economic future, we must also continue to reform state government to make it more innovative and efficient, and HB 599 helps achieve that goal. By restructuring the Liquor Commission to a single-commissioner model, this commonsense, this bipartisan legislation will help the Liquor Commission build upon its record-breaking 2013 sales and more effectively operate like New Hampshire's successful businesses. I thank the Legislature for their efforts on HB 599, which tracks closely with the language we originally included in our budget proposal, and I am happy to sign this bill into law."
