Governor Hassan to Nominate John Beardmore as Department of Revenue Administration Commissioner
Beardmore to Lead Efforts to Ensure Transparency and Fairness for All Taxpayers

CONCORD - Focusing on promoting fiscal responsibility in state government and ensuring that all taxpayers are treated fairly, Governor Maggie Hassan announced today that she will nominate John Beardmore to serve as Commissioner of the Department of Revenue Administration.

Beardmore, of Hopkinton, currently serves as Director of Administration at the Department of Safety and has held a variety of budget-related positions across New Hampshire state government, including Budget Director under Governor John Lynch and multiple positions at the General Court's Office of Legislative Budget Assistant.

"The work done by the Department of Revenue Administration is critical for our efforts to maintain a fiscally responsible state budget, and we must ensure that their work is performed as transparently and fairly as possible," Governor Hassan said. "Cuts to DRA positions in recent years have put a significant strain on the department that they have for the most part handled admirably, but it is clear that the agency needs revitalized leadership to improve their effectiveness and communication with taxpayers and with the legislature.

"John Beardmore's deep understanding of New Hampshire state government, as well as his demonstrated integrity and track record of effectively bringing together all branches of government to solve our fiscal challenges, make him an ideal candidate for DRA Commissioner."

"I understand the importance of an effective and transparent Department of Revenue Administration that has the full confidence of taxpayers, and I am honored that Governor Hassan has entrusted me with the responsibility of leading this critical state agency," Beardmore said.

Beardmore, who also serves as trustee for the New Hampshire Retirement System, received his Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, after receiving his B.A. from the University of New Hampshire.

Beardmore's nomination is subject to confirmation by the Executive Council. Governor Hassan will formally nominate Beardmore to the Council at Wednesday's meeting.
